How To: Host A Mother’s Day Brunch
Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and we believe one of the more fun ways to celebrate the moms in your life is to host a special Mother’s Day Brunch! We’ve gathered some helpful tips and tricks to host your very own brunch.
Whether you’re looking to splurge on a fancy brunch of quickly pull together an event on a lesser budget, all of the following tips will help make the event planning process as seamless as possible!
Location
Location, location, location! It’s probably the most important factor to consider when planning any event. For a Mother’s Day celebration, especially a brunch, you’ll want a location that’s a bit more intimate and preferably one that is outside! After all, Spring is one of the more wonderful times of the year to host an outdoor event, so may as well take advantage of the weather. Some great options are:
- Garden
- Backyard Patio
- Winery
- Public park
- Picnic table area near lake
Table Decor
Table decorations can make or break an event. For a Mother’s Day brunch, consider a softer palette – perhaps in your mother’s favorite color if the brunch is being held in just her honor – and lots of flowers!
- Use a tablecloth – this is especially necessary if you will be using a picnic table in a public area, as it makes it more hygienic in addition to more sightly
- Layer the tablecloth with a long table runner to add texture and color
- Utilize shorter center pieces rather than big, tall ones so that everyone can see one another while they eat
- Add place settings so everyone knows where to sit; guests will appreciate the personalized touch
Food & Drinks
First, it’s probably best to decide on a sort of food theme for your brunch. Do you want it to be traditional breakfast food? Do you want it to be more of a Mother’s Day Tea Party? Is there a certain type of food your own mother enjoys best? Whatever you choose, try to include the following items:
- Appetizers – this can be a simple fruit and vegetable plate, or maybe a healthy fruit and nut mix
- Entree – whether it be a breakfast soufflé or a baked breakfast casserole
- Light Desserts – macaroons, pastries, cupcakes, or candy, the possibilities are endless!
- Drinks – for a boozy brunch, you can opt for the classic mimosa, or select your own favorite Mother’s Day cocktail! If booze at brunch isn’t your mother’s cup of tea, try a refreshing lemonade drink, such as this Rosemary infused Lemonade recipe!
